On April 11, 2024 Bachelor in Secondary Education students from GCC joined teachers from Kinder to Grade 12 in attending the Seminar-Workshop at the Manila Adventist College entitled “Multidisciplinary & Transdisciplinary Learning Designs in Implementing the MATATAG Curriculum” organized by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and University (ACSCU) - National Capital Region & Southern Luzon Cluster.

Greg T. Pawilen PhD was invited to shed light in the issues and intricacies of the new curriculum which is to be implemented in School Year 2024-2025. He is a distinguished scholar and educator from the University of the Philippines and was deeply involved in the development of the MATATAG Curriculum. The MATATAG Curriculum is an update of the K to 10 Curriculum.

Ms. Lucy Wu (a 3rd year student) attests that the seminar was “extremely informative.” She appreciated the clarifications made on the MATATAG Curriculum which helped dismissed rumors. Moreover, she gained insights on teachers’ roles and experiences as they shared suggestions on the implementation of the new curriculum.

On the other hand, Ms. Tiara Joya (incoming 4th year students) has become more confident in her ability to create engaging, relevant and effective lesson plans through the relevant information learned about practical strategies, the importance of context, motivation and holistic teaching.

GCC will continue to provide opportunities for exposure to its students recognizing that education happens in the presence of experts outside it’s campus.
